Samsung has presented two solid smartphones: Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition. They are designed for the military and are inspired by the success of the Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition released in 2020, which is still used by thousands of employees of the US Department of Defense.

As reported by Sammobile.com, both models meet US military requirements for mobile devices and support Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR), which are also compliant with classified data protection regarding the requirements of the US National Security Agency.

The devices are pre-installed with applications that will also be useful for the military:

  • ATAK (Android Team Awareness Ki): provides precision targeting, reconnaissance, navigation during military operations and data sharing;
  • BATDOK (Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit): oversees the real-time monitoring of vital data of the injured soldier and facilitates the doctor's work in providing emergency care.

There is also support for the DeX platform, which frees the military from the need to use a laptop.

Smartphones also have special protective cases, with which, if necessary, they can be attached to the chest or hand.

The hardware specifications of Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition are no different from the "civilian" versions of smartphones; both have IP68 protection and the screens are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus +.
