The end of 2025 has brought several interesting smartphones from China. realme has refreshed its Narzo lineup with two models focused on battery life, while Vivo surprised the market with the compact flagship S50 Pro Mini — powerful, thin, and featuring a record-breaking battery for its size.
realme Narzo 90 and 90x: 7000 mAh and Fast Charging for Reasonable Money
realme has expanded the Narzo series, aimed at younger users, with two devices at once: the Narzo 90 and the more affordable Narzo 90x. The key feature of both is a 7000 mAh battery with 60 W fast charging, something rarely seen even in the mid-range segment.
The Narzo 90 is powered by the Dimensity 6400 Max, with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, plus microSD support. The display is a 6.57-inch Full HD Plus AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 4000 nits, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. Cameras include a 50 MP main sensor and a monochrome sensor on the back, plus a 50 MP front camera in a centered cutout. The phone has IP66, IP68, and IP69 protection, runs Android 15 with realme UI 6.0, and is promised three major system updates.
The Narzo 90x is simpler. It uses the Dimensity 6300, has a larger 6.8-inch HD Plus LCD with a 144 Hz refresh rate, the same 7000 mAh battery and 60 W charging, but more modest cameras: 50 MP on the back and 8 MP on the front. It is a classic long-lasting phone for users who want a big screen and up to a week away from the charger.
Both models are already on sale in Asia, with prices starting at the equivalent of about 185 to 250 US dollars.
Vivo S50 Pro Mini: A Compact Flagship With iPhone Air Inspired Design
Vivo took a different approach and introduced the S50 Pro Mini, a true compact flagship with the performance of much larger top-tier phones. The design is inspired by the iPhone Air, featuring a horizontal camera module, a flat back panel, and a metal frame made from aerospace-grade alloy. The phone is 8.1 mm thick, weighs 192 grams, and has IP68 and IP69 protection.
The display is a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, brightness up to 5000 nits, and 4320 Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner sits under the screen. Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The 6500 mAh battery is a record for this size, with 90 W wired charging and 40 W wireless charging.
The camera system includes a 50 MP main camera with optical stabilization, a 50 MP periscope telephoto with 3x zoom and stabilization, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50 MP front camera. The phone runs OriginOS 6 on Android 16 and supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and stereo speakers.
For now, it is available only in China. Prices start at 3699 yuan, about 525 US dollars, for the 12 GB and 256 GB version, and go up to 4299 yuan, about 610 US dollars, for the 16 GB and 512 GB model.
