HONOR conducted a survey of more than 1,500 people to mark the release of its rugged smartphone HONOR X7d. The study identified the hardest and most dangerous professions and showed how harsh working conditions impact gadgets. The Toughest Jobs: Russians’ Opinion

According to the survey, miners and workers in the mining industry ranked first as the most difficult profession — chosen by 37.3% of respondents. However, the miners themselves were more modest: more than half considered their work of medium difficulty. In second place were installers and roofers (11%), while emergency doctors came third (10.1%).

These professions involve heavy physical and psychological strain, as well as a high risk of injury. Working underground, at heights, or in emergency conditions demands endurance and constant focus.

  • 33% of workers reported their smartphone had been damaged at least once in a year.
  • 7% experienced multiple breakdowns.
  • The most common issues were:
    • Cracked screens — 45.1% of cases.
    • Battery problems — slightly less frequent.
    • Cracks in the body — reported by 34% of respondents.
    • Dust and dirt inside the device — complained about by more than a third.

Because of the risk of damage, nearly half of workers try to minimize smartphone use in the workplace.

What Matters Most in a Smartphone?

Those in high-risk professions have special demands for their devices:

  • Battery life: about 20% consider long-lasting power the most important factor.
  • Durability: one-third are willing to pay extra for a shock-resistant body to protect against drops, dust, and water.
