Chipset Showdown: Snapdragon vs Dimensity

This ranking highlights the fierce competition between Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+. Seven out of ten devices use the Snapdragon 8 Elite, with some featuring overclocked variants. The top performer, RedMagic 10S Pro+, owes its lead to an overclocked Snapdragon chip pushing CPU frequency to 4.47 GHz and GPU to 1.2 GHz.

However, the Dimensity 9400+ is closing the gap, with Vivo X200s and Redmi K80 Ultra posting scores close to Snapdragon’s best, showcasing MediaTek’s continued rise in the premium segment.

AnTuTu notes that most devices in the ranking come with 16–24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, which is becoming the norm for 2025 flagships. The scores are based on at least 1,000 test runs per device, using average rather than peak results to reflect real-world performance more accurately.

Why Is the Ranking China-Focused?

The AnTuTu benchmark is primarily compiled from data collected on devices sold in China, where flagship competition is especially fierce. Some models like the RedMagic 10S Pro+ or Oppo Find X8 Ultra Satellite Edition are also sold globally, but often under different names or with altered specs.

Models like the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 are already available internationally, though their global versions may yield different benchmark results due to software tuning or hardware variations.

AnTuTu’s global rankings may soon include devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 (powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy) or new Xiaomi flagships that haven’t yet reached the sample threshold for ranking. Users on X have pointed out that international versions often perform slightly below their Chinese counterparts due to regional software optimization differences.

What AnTuTu Doesn’t Measure

While AnTuTu evaluates CPU, GPU, memory, and storage performance, it does not account for:

  • Camera quality – for example, the superior imaging on the Vivo X200 Ultra or Oppo Find X8 Ultra.
  • Battery life – endurance metrics are excluded from the score.
  • Software optimization – which can heavily affect real-world experience and fluidity.

For users choosing a smartphone, these overlooked factors may be more important than raw benchmark performance alone.

What’s Next?

Competition is expected to intensify in the coming months as new models launch. The Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition, currently testing on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, is rumored to challenge the top 3. The upcoming Xiaomi 15S Pro, potentially featuring the custom Xring O1 chip, may debut in July.

Looking ahead to 2026, it’s likely that 24 GB RAM will become the standard for flagship devices, pushing performance boundaries even further.
