A transparent screen that displays images on both sides – if we believe the fantasy movies, then these will be the screens of the future. Today, Japan Display (JDI), a company created through the joint efforts of Hitachi, Toshiba and Sony, announced exactly such a display.

The 20.8-inch Rælclear LCD has the world's highest light transmission coefficient – 84%. The display is transparent and you can even see other people's facial expressions through it. At the same time, according to the manufacturer, it provides "unique two-way communication."

The screen resolution is 1280 x 720, refresh rate up to 120 Hz, maximum brightness – 300 cd/m2, there is also support for 4096 colors. 

According to ithome.com, live display will be shown at CES 2023, which starts January 5 in Las Vegas, USA. There visitors will also have the opportunity to experience the interactive communication of the future, in which artificial intelligence can provide services to people on both sides of the screen simultaneously.

JDI previously released a 12.3-inch version of a similar display, but the 20.8-inch version differs not only in size, but also in the fact that it used the original technology that doubles the refresh rate and reduces flicker. The brightness of the new version of the display is twice as high as the 12.3-inch version, thanks to the use of new LEDs.

Mass production of the new Rælclear is scheduled for autumn 2023.
