The iPhone 17 will not have a significant reduction in the Dynamic Island cutout, contrary to earlier rumors. This was reported by 9to5Mac, citing well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This information contradicts the forecast of insider Jeff Pu, who previously claimed that thanks to the new “metallens” technology, Apple will be able to reduce the size of the proximity sensor and the Face ID system.

Kuo noted that the size of the Dynamic Island in the iPhone 17 lineup, which is expected to be released in the second half of 2025, will remain almost the same as in the iPhone 16.

“I expect the Dynamic Island size to remain largely unchanged across the 2H25 iPhone 17 series,” he wrote.

The phrase “largely” allows for minimal changes, but the analyst ruled out the possibility of a radical reduction in the cutout, as previously assumed.

In the future, Apple aims to completely remove the cutouts by integrating the front camera and Face ID under the display. However, according to experts, the implementation of this technology will take several years.
