Apple's budget smartphone iPhone SE 4 with a 5G modem will be released by the end of the first quarter of 2025. This is reported by MacRumors, citing Barclays Bank analyst Tom O'Malley.

Thus, the smartphone will be released in March 2025, three years after the release of the current third-generation iPhone SE.

According to rumors, the new product will be similar to the main iPhone 14 and will offer a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a flagship A17 Pro or A18 chip, a USB-C connector, a single 48 MP camera on the rear, 8 GB of RAM for support for Apple Intelligence and the first Apple 5G modem.

According to numerous leaks, Apple has been working on its own 5G modem for the iPhone since 2018. It is expected that this will allow the company to reduce its dependence on Qualcomm.

The companies previously extended the contract for the supply of modems for the iPhone until 2026, so Apple has enough time to complete the transition to its own development. As suggested by reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 17 Air will also be equipped with an Apple-made modem. The third-generation iPhone SE was introduced on March 8, 2022, starting at $429, but according to rumors, the next generation will be more expensive.
