Samsung is developing a smartphone that can be folded into three parts. ZDNet Korea, citing its sources, reports that Samsung Display has already planned the production of special flexible OLED panels to create a new foldable device.
In fact, the future device will receive three independent screens, which will be assembled into one large screen after opening. According to the source, probably the new device will be released in 2025. However, there is a possibility that the corporation may stop development and further production; the final decision rests with Samsung Electronics executives.
ZDNet Korea experts noted that the supply of OLED screens for foldable devices will decrease by 10% by the end of 2024. This is due to relatively low demand for new foldable phone models.
The new smartphone with a triple screen will probably be the most expensive foldable phone of the Korean brand. Also, in 2025, Samsung will release several devices that fold in two parts.
Such a smartphone already exists in the market. In September, Huawei introduced the three-fold Mate XT smartphone, which costs $2800. However, the folds of the smartphone screen are very noticeable even when looking at the screen at a right angle.
