The smartphones that Apple will release in the fall of 2026 (iPhone 18) will receive a record amount of RAM. This is reported by the website MacRumors with reference to an insider named Phone Chip Expert.

The source noted that the devices of this series will receive a processor created by TSMC with a 2-nanometer process technology. Also, the Apple supplier will use a new packaging standard WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module), which will allow the device components to be placed more compactly on the processor.

WMCM will allow the main processor, graphics processor, RAM, modem and other parts to be integrated on a single chip. All models in the series will also get 12GB of RAM. Currently, all devices of the iPhone 16 series have 8 GB of RAM. 12 GB of RAM is considered the minimum required for working with artificial intelligence (AI) functions.

TSMC, which makes Apple processors, is expected to switch to two-nanometer chips by the end of 2025. Most likely, Apple will be the first company that will be able to use such processors in its devices.

At the beginning of October, the famous insider Majin Bu reported that the iPhone 17 series phones will have an additional button. It will replace the physical volume button and Action button. The release of iPhone 17 series devices is expected in the fall of 2025.
