Google has released the Android 15 operating system, with Pixel smartphones being the first to receive it. The new platform introduces enhanced privacy features, improvements for foldable devices and tablets, as well as a theft detection lock feature, some of which are powered by artificial intelligence.

One of the key innovations in Android 15 is the ability to create a "personal space" for apps that users want to hide from others who may have access to their device, according to The Verge. These apps can include social networks, dating platforms, or banking services. Access to these apps will require additional authentication, and the existence of the app itself can be concealed.

For foldable devices and tablets, Android 15 now allows users to pin and unpin the taskbar for quicker app access. Additionally, two frequently used apps can be combined into a single icon, enabling them to be launched simultaneously with one click.

Regardless of the Android version, many devices will receive the Theft Detection Lock feature, which will automatically lock the phone if it detects, using artificial intelligence, that a theft has occurred. For instance, if the smartphone detects that it has been snatched from the user’s hand.

A Remote Lock feature will also be introduced, allowing the device owner to lock their phone remotely from another Android device using their phone number and a security check. Google states that most devices running Android 10 and newer will receive these features, and some users already have access to them.

Additionally, the company has begun rolling out a new update for Pixel as part of the October Pixel Feature Drop. This includes new features such as Night Sight mode for Instagram, which improves photo quality in low light, and enhanced controls for the Audio Magic Eraser tool. Over the next few weeks, Google will also add the ability to transfer files from a Pixel tablet to a Pixel phone simply by placing the devices next to each other.

It’s worth noting that the Android 15 operating system was initially launched last month through the Android Open Source Project, but at that time, it wasn’t yet available on Pixel smartphones and other Android devices.
