Today, smartphones have become an integral part of our daily lives, containing numerous apps, photos, videos, and other data that can gradually take up a significant amount of memory. Natalia Golitsyna, Head of Telephony at MTS retail network, shared some tips with Gazeta.Ru on what to delete from your smartphone to extend its lifespan.

Third-party apps can take up a substantial amount of memory, so it’s useful to periodically review the list of installed programs and remove those that aren’t being used. For example, if an app hasn’t been used for over a month, it’s likely not needed by the user. People often install several apps with similar functions, such as different geolocation services. In such cases, it’s worth comparing their features and keeping only the one that best meets your needs.

It’s also important to remember that many apps store cache and temporary files, which accumulate over time and take up valuable space. Most programs have settings that allow you to clear cached data, which won’t affect important files but will help free up space. You can also use special services designed to clear the cache. Don’t forget about temporary files created by browsers and other apps, which can be deleted without losing any important information.

Media files, including photos, videos, and music, often take up the majority of the device's memory. To free up space, you can delete duplicates using special apps that simplify this process. For example, on iOS smartphones, there is a built-in feature for finding duplicates in the Photos app. Moving media files to cloud services is also an excellent way to free up memory. Finally, regularly review your photos and delete unsuccessful ones to avoid cluttering your device's memory.
