American company Apple has started mass production of the iPhone 16 series smartphones in preparation for their announcement in September, according to Korean publication ET News.

Sources from the media report that Apple's South Korean partners, Samsung Display and LG Display, have expanded their production of OLED panels. The journalists noted that this move likely indicates that Apple needed a large number of front panels for assembling the new iPhone screens.

It is expected that Apple will release 90 million new phones. Samsung Display and LG Display will supply the corporation with 120 million panels, with Samsung Display fulfilling the bulk of the order—80 million OLED panels. Additionally, company BOE will provide a portion of the supplies, with its panels currently being tested by Apple before mass production begins.

ET News concluded that the start of mass production suggests that the American IT giant intends to announce the new devices on schedule. Apple plans to unveil the iPhone 16 in September.

Earlier, journalists from 9to5Mac, based on leaks and past data, predicted the presentation date for the iPhone 16. According to experts, the new smartphones are expected to be announced on September 10.
