According to recent reports, the next-generation Mac mini will look different from its predecessors. Moreover, it will be the smallest computer the company has ever made.
The Mac mini lineup hasn’t seen a radical design update since way back in 2010. Given the device’s dimensions and Apple’s design approach, this isn’t surprising. However, this year we’re finally going to see something new.
The next-generation Mac mini, based on the M4 SoC, will be about the same size as the Apple TV but may be slightly taller to accommodate a cooling system.
For reference, the current generation Apple TV is 31 mm tall, while the current Mac mini stands at 35.8 mm. So, the difference in height is already minimal.
As for the build materials, the tech giant will continue using an aluminum chassis. It’s worth noting that, according to existing rumors, the MacBook Pro lineup with the M4 chip won’t feature a new design, making the next-generation Mac mini the only device with such a distinction.
