Samsung presented the Galaxy Z Fold6 folding smartphone, which has quite interesting characteristics, during the Unpacked event held yesterday in Paris.

Galaxy Z Fold6 has become noticeably lighter and thinner than its predecessor. In the unfolded state, the thickness decreased by 0.5 mm, and in the folded state by 1.3 mm, reaching 12.1 mm. The weight has been reduced by 14 grams to 239g, which is only slightly more than the weight of large flagships with a traditional All-in-one form factor. For example, the new product is only 7g heavier than the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Perhaps the most important change in the Galaxy Z Fold6 is the external display: it increased to 6.3 inches. The external screen, as well as the back cover, is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass.

Inside is a foldable 7.6-inch Infinity Flex display with a 20.9:18 aspect ratio. The main and external displays are built on Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The resolution of the internal screen is 2160 × 1856 pixels, and the external one is 2376 × 968 pixels. The peak brightness reaches 2600 and 1600 cd/m2 respectively.

The Galaxy Z Fold6's hinge has also been redesigned to improve durability. In addition, the Fold6 has IP48 protection, making it the first foldable smartphone to be dust-resistant.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 smartphone is based on the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is complemented by 12 GB of RAM, as well as 256, 512 or 1024 GB of built-in memory. Samsung also said it installed a 1.6x larger vapor chamber than the Fold5 to improve heat dissipation.

The Galaxy Z Fold6's five cameras haven't undergone significant hardware upgrades compared to its predecessor. The battery has not received an update. The 4400mAh battery supports 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 will be offered in three main colors: Silver Shadow, Pink and Navy. Exclusive variants will also be available in Crafted Black and White, but only through Samsung.com.
