Musk says Neuralink will restore people's sight

American billionaire Elon Musk announced on his X social network page that the Neuralink company he founded is developing a brain implant that will be able to restore people's sight.

"Blindsight is Neuralink's next product after Telepathy... Even if someone has never seen or was born blind, we believe we can restore sight," Musk wrote.

The entrepreneur clarified that the implant is already being tested on monkeys, which, as he emphasized, were not harmed during the experiments.

He also explained that the image resolution may be low at first, "like early Nintendo consoles", but over time it is possible to bring the quality up to the level of normal human vision.

It should be noted that Neuralink has already successfully performed an operation to install an implant in the human brain, which helps a person who cannot move his hands to control a computer with the power of his mind. The first patient who received the implant is already able to play chess on the computer.
