Bitcoin price hits $50,000 for first time since 2021

February 13, 2024  12:09

The price of Bitcoin has increased strongly in the last week, the growth continued this week and the price of the world's main cryptocurrency reached the $50,000 mark yesterday. Later, of course, the exchange rate adjusted slightly, dropping to 49,800, but it is still at an important psychological mark.

In one day, the price of Bitcoin increased by 3.5%, which is quite a lot considering that the increase was 12.2% for the whole of last week. Ethereum (almost 4.5% daily) and Cardano (3.9% daily) are also actively growing in the top ten cryptocurrencies.

Over the past 24 hours, the crypto market has grown by 3.32% to $1.87 trillion. And this increase is mainly due to the increase in the price of BTC. It is possible that Bitcoin will set new price records on the eve of the next halving (the halving of the reward for Bitcoin mining, which happens once in four years), which is 66 days away.

The price of Bitcoin decreased to 39,500 dollars on January 22 of this year, which is about 10,000 dollars less than the maximum value of January. Such a thing had not been registered since the beginning of December last year. Then the price of the cryptocurrency rose to $40,000.

The idea of Bitcoin was introduced by Satoshi Nakamoto in November 2008, and it was put into circulation as a currency in 2009. The supply of Bitcoin is limited and currently most of the Bitcoins have already been mined.
