The camera unit and the entire design of the Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will most likely differ from previous models. Well-known insider Majin Boo reported this on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

He also published renders showing that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will have vertical camera lenses, and instead of the square camera frames, there will be an elongated oval, which was seen in the past on the iPhone X. Additionally, the new phones may have rounded frames instead of flat ones.

According to Boo, the new phones will be a combination of iPhone X and iPhone 11 designs with a few different variations.

But most likely there will be no significant changes in the design of the Pro and Pro Max models. According to Boo, by narrowing the frame, the screen diagonal of the 16 Pro could grow by 0.1 inches to 6.3 inches. Like the 16 Pro Max, the 16 Pro will feature a touch-sensitive camera control button. This button will be either concave or at the level of the side edge.

The insider also does not rule out that the 16 Pro may receive a periscope camera module, like in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This will require rearranging the internal components, but the body of the device will most likely not be enlarged.

The release of smartphones from the iPhone 16 series is expected in the fall of 2024.
