Periscope camera and satellite communication: Honor introduced flagship smartphones Magic6 and Magic6 Pro

Honor has introduced a new series of flagship smartphones, Magic6. It consists of the basic model Magic6 and the more advanced Magic6 Pro. The devices have outstanding specifications, including powerful processors, ultra-bright OLED displays and innovative cameras. Particular attention is drawn to the 180-megapixel periscopic module of the older model and support for satellite communications.

Main characteristics

Honor Magic6 and Magic6 Pro smartphones are equipped with 6.8-inch OLED displays with a resolution of 2800 × 1264 pixels. These displays support dynamic refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz and deliver high auto brightness of up to 1800 cd/m², as well as peak brightness of 5000 cd/m² when playing HDR content.

Both smartphones have 50-megapixel front cameras with autofocus and the ability to record video in 4K at 30 frames per second. Magic6 Pro additionally has a ToF sensor for face recognition. The rear camera unit of the Magic6 Pro includes a main 50-megapixel OmniVision OVH9000 sensor, a periscope telephoto lens, a 180-megapixel sensor and a 50-megapixel widescreen sensor. The Magic6 also has impressive capabilities, including a 32MP telephoto lens and a 50MP widescreen sensor.

Both devices are powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen3 processors and offer 12GB or 16GB RAM options. The Magic6 model is available with up to 512GB of storage, while the Magic6 Pro boasts up to 1TB of internal storage.

Honor Magic6 is equipped with a 5450 mAh battery with 66W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The Magic6 Pro, on the other hand, has a 5600mAh battery and supports 80W wired charging and 66W wireless charging.

Both smartphones run Android 14 with the proprietary MagicOS 8.0 shell.

In addition, Magic6 Pro supports two-way satellite communication, which allows you to use your smartphone for calls and SMS. Both devices are equipped with an infrared port for controlling household appliances and have IP68 protection against dust and water.

Price and availability

Honor Magic6 and Magic6 Pro smartphones will be available in black, green, blue, purple and white. Prices in China start at 4,399 yuan ($620) for the Magic6 and 5,699 yuan ($793) for the Magic6 Pro. Sales start on January 18 in China, with availability in other markets to be announced at a later date.
