Microsoft openesfree access to most powerful neural network GPT-4 Turbo, but not to everyone

December 25, 2023  18:19

The GPT-4 Turbo neural network is now available on a subscription basis through ChatGPT Plus. However, Microsoft provides an opportunity to try its features for free, but this is limited to randomly selected testers. Microsoft is currently testing the integration of ChatGPT-4 Turbo and plugin support in its own chatbot, Bing Chat (Microsoft Copilot).

Microsoft also plans to update the Code Interpreter feature to align it with the capabilities of the OpenAI platform. This means that the Code Interpreter in Microsoft Copilot will soon be able to respond to more complex programming or data processing-related questions.

GPT-4 Turbo is a new ChatGPT model from OpenAI, based on the existing GPT-4 model. This language model is trained on publicly available information up to April 2023, allowing it to more accurately respond to user questions about recent events. GPT-4 is available only to ChatGPT Plus subscribers and is not offered for free.

According to sources at Microsoft, the company is integrating the latest ChatGPT model into its Bing Chat. However, GPT-4 Turbo is used depending on the request and plugin settings. When using default settings, Bing Chat can switch between its current AI model and GPT-4 Turbo. The opportunity to test GPT-4 Turbo in Bing Chat depends on luck, as this feature is available only to selected testers. However, Microsoft confirms plans to expand testing in the coming weeks.

It's worth noting that when selecting testers, Microsoft does not prefer specific accounts or regions. Selection occurs entirely randomly using A/B testing principles. To find out if a user has access to GPT-4 Turbo in Bing Chat, several methods can be used. For example, on a PC, one can go to Bing.com/chat in a browser, create a new thread, and check the page's source code. Then, using the "Find on page" function in the Edge or Chrome browser, search for mentions of dlgpt4t. If the search results in the page's source code include dlgpt4t, it means the user has access to GPT-4 Turbo.

On mobile devices, users can confirm their right to free use of GPT-4 Turbo in testing by uploading some image to Bing Chat and asking the AI chatbot to describe the emotions it evokes. Unlike previous GPT models, the latest GPT-4 Turbo model in Bing Chat can recognize and freely discuss emotions.

Bing Chat has also introduced plugin settings. Users can disable Bing search in the settings, limiting Bing Chat from scanning links in Bing for responses to queries. Instead, it will rely entirely on its own data obtained during training when the "Bing Search" plugin is disabled.
