Google's Gemini artificial intelligence model is also now available for devices running Android 10 and Android 11. Previously, the chatbot only worked on smartphones with Android 12 and newer OS.

When Google first announced that Gemini would be available for Android, the company noted at the time that the AI-powered assistant would only be available for devices running Android 12 or later. Since then, all app updates require the device to be running at least Android 12.

The latest version of Gemini for Android is v1.0.626720042 and now has Android 10 support. The application is available on the Play Store. Users have already tested and confirmed that Gemini runs on Android 10. The first version of Gemini (formerly called Bard) was compatible with Android 6, but the latest versions of the chatbot required Android 12 as a minimum.

The expansion of chatbot support is likely an indication that Google wants to make Gemini as popular as possible among users, as Android 10 and 11 together account for about 29% of the global share of devices running Android  (Android 11 - 16.09% and Android 10 - 8.98%). The share of Android 12 is 17.08%, Android 13 and 14 are 26.57% and 16.45% respectively.
