Why it’s not a good idea to charge your iPhone 15 with wireless chargers in cars

November 1, 2023  10:27

The NFC chips in iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max may be damaged when using built-in wireless chargers in some cars. This information was distributed by MacRumors, citing a corporate message from Apple.

The company said in a letter that the problem has been noticed with some late-model BMW and Toyota Supra vehicles. Malfunctions in the NFC chip caused by the use of wireless charging in these cars, according to the company, are temporary. However, the cause of this malfunction is not specified.

Apple promises to fix this problem with a software update by the end of 2023. Until this point, the company does not recommend that owners of the mentioned cars use smartphones from the iPhone 15 series with built-in chargers.

For those users who have already encountered this problem, Apple recommends contacting the nearest authorized service center. There, specialists will try to restore the operation of the NFC chip using Service Toolkit 2. If this fails, the iPhone will be sent for repair.
