All iPhone 16 models will get same TSMC chips with different performance

The entire range of iPhone 16 smartphones will receive Apple's new A18 chips, which are made with TSMC's new 3nm process technology, but there will still be a performance difference between the chips in the standard and Pro/Max models of the smartphones. WCCFTech website reports this, referring to analyst Jeff Pew.

According to him, next year, all iPhone 16 models will be updated with second-generation 3nm process chips developed by TSMC using N3E technology. In particular, the standard iPhone 16 models will receive A18 Bionic processors, and the Pro versions will receive A18 Pro chips. This means that the standard models will receive the same N3E-based chips, but in their performance they will still be inferior to the chips of the flagship models.

The current iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models received Apple's new 3 nm A17 Pro chip, while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models received last year's 4 nm A16 Bionic chip.

TSMC previously switched from N3B to N3E technology due to the higher performance of the latter. The supplier has already started using N3E technology in mass production. TSMC's switch to N3E technology will provide significant performance improvements over N3B. Apart from this, this improvement also helps to increase the energy efficiency of the devices.
