Viruses installed on smartphoneս by manufacturer itself։ What can be done in such cases?

New smartphones can be infected with malware even before they go on sale. Information security expert Alexey Lukatsky said this in an interview with Sputnik radio station.

According to the expert, there are two ways to infect new smartphones with malicious programs. In the first case, such programs are downloaded to the smartphone at the production stage.

Lukatsky noted that this happens in the case of cheap Chinese models. Manufacturers of such products try to make money not only from the smartphones themselves, but also from the resale of users' personal data.

In the second option, the virus can be installed on the device already in the country of import. However, according to the expert, it is rather theoretically possible.

What can be done?

Lukatsky believes that apart from installing a mobile antivirus, the average user has no way to fight against such malicious programs. It is almost impossible to remove a virus built into the operating system during production.

Therefore, the expert suggests not to buy cheap smartphones from little-known manufacturers, but to choose devices of more or less well-known brands.
