Apple has not yet revealed information about the batteries of the new iPhone 15 lineup, but the MySmartPrice portal has published information about the battery capacity, citing a Chinese regulatory database.

Battery capacity of the iPhone 15 line:

  • iPhone 15 — 3349 mAh;
  • iPhone 15 Plus 4383 mAh;
  • iPhone 15 Pro — 3274 mAh;
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max — 4422 mAh.

For comparison, here is the battery capacity of the iPhone 14 series:

  • iPhone 14 — 3279 mAh;
  • iPhone 14 Plus — 4325 mAh;
  • iPhone 14 Pro — 3200 mAh;
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max — 4323 mAh.

Despite the increase in battery capacity, Apple has not made significant improvements to the battery life of the iPhone 15 series compared to last year's models.

Approximate battery life of the iPhone 15 lineup:

  • iPhone 15 — 20 hours;
  • iPhone 15 Plus — 26 hours;
  • iPhone 15 Pro — 23 hours;
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max — 29 hours.

The iPhone 14 series smartphones had approximately the same battery life.

USB-C port improvement

According to the Japanese blog MacOtakara, the output power of the USB-C port in the iPhone 15 was 15 times higher than that of Lightning. The old port only provided 0.3W for charging external accessories, while USB-C provided up to 4.5W.

This means that more devices will be able to work with Apple's new smartphones, such as portable hard drives that can be directly connected as external storage. The smartphone's USB-C port also allows data transfer at speeds of up to 10 Gbps.

In addition, AirPods or Apple Watch can also be charged by connecting to the iPhone 15 via USB-C. However, it is not yet known whether it will be possible to recharge one smartphone from another.

On September 12, Apple introduced a series of new iPhone 15, which use a USB-C port instead of Lightning. Some other devices also received this port, including:

  • Apple EarPods (wired headphones): $19,
  • Apple AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C charging case: $249. Unfortunately, Apple likely won't sell the case separately.
  • USB-C cable (60 W): USB-C cable with data transfer speed of USB 2.0: $19,
  • USB-C (240W) cable with data transfer speed of USB 2.0, price: $29,
  • Thunderbolt 4 cable with 10 Gbps data transfer rate, price: $69. This cable also provides DisplayPort (HBR3) video output,
  • Lightning to USB-C adapter for older accessories.
