Google Search integrates generative AI: This may be the most important update in the company's history

Google has shown for the first time what its search engine will look like with the integration of generative artificial intelligence.

Generative AI is implemented in the search engine in much the same way as it was done in Microsoft's Bing search engine. For now, unfortunately, it is impossible to evaluate the performance of the search engine with AI, and we will have to be satisfied with what Google has shown.

In one example, the search engine was asked which is the best hiking destination for a family with children under three and a dog: Bryce Canyon or Arches National Park. The search engine not only gave standard answers, but also told some details, as the ChatGTP chatbot usually does. The user can of course continue to communicate with the generative AB and ask clarifying questions.

In another example, Google is tested during shopping. When asked what kind of bike to choose, the search engine presents an array of bike ratings, reviews, and prices.

For now, Google is not going to massively implement this system, but will start with a Search Labs project called SGE (Search Generative Experience). AI's search engine will be available on Google's PC and mobile versions, but for now only in the US and only in English. The launch is planned for the coming weeks.

The first demonstration of Bard chatbot capabilities, which is considered the main competitor of ChatGPT, ended in failure. Google's AI made a factual error in its answer, which cost the company 100 billion dollars.

The company, however, continued to work on the development of AI and its implementation in its services. Thus, Google recently introduced a set of AI tools for its Workspace applications. Tools that can create text, images, emails, video, and audio, for services like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Google also plans to introduce a talking bot in its search engine, with which, unlike ChatGPT and other chatbots, it will be possible to literally speak. It is not yet known how search engine will sound and what accents it will be able to understand, but the idea itself seems very interesting.
