Why does used iPhone 13 Pro suddenly go up in price?

October 10, 2022  12:33

The smartphones from the new iPhone 14 series are not in great demand, and this became clear from the first days after their releaseThey sold worse than last year's Apple smartphones, and what's more, demand for the iPhone 13 increased after their release, which led to a rise in the price of the latter.

An analytics company CounterPoint Research study found that prices for last year's iPhones – even used and refurbished ones – rose by an average of 11%. After becoming familiar with the 2022 models, many users weighed the pros and cons and went to buy last year's models. As it turned out, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models were the most in-demand among buyers.

Why don't users like the new iPhone 14?

The new iPhones do not differ much from last year's, and it has been said more than once. The design of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus is very similar to the iPhone 13, moreover, even the platform the new iPhones received last year: according to experts, this is the first such case in history.

The vanilla iPhone 14 lacks a dual-frequency GPS module, which only the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were equipped with, and this also disappointed users. Dynamic Island is also missing, as well as anything noteworthy that could attract users.

There are, however, two very interesting new features – satellite connectivity for an emergency and car crash detection, but it seems that for most users they are not enough to buy new models. Moreover, the average price of the new iPhone 14 is higher than that of the iPhone 13: Apple itself raised the prices in some countries.

Therefore, many users prefer the iPhone 13 – even used and refurbished ones. Even considering the price hikes, they seem to be a better deal than the new iPhone 14.

Even the iPhone 13 did not make it into the list of Apple devices that users are really happy with. First place in the ranking of Apple devices, based on user satisfaction and compiled by the popular AnTuTu benchmark, went to the older iPhone SE. And the newest smartphone to hit the ranking was the iPhone 12 mini.
