At its “Awe Dropping” event held last night in Cupertino, Apple introduced its new flagship devices — the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The smartphones feature a refreshed design, the new A19 Pro processor, larger batteries, and improved cameras with 8K video support, reports Itzine.

Apple announced four models in the iPhone 17 lineup: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Pro versions took center stage during the presentation, receiving a wide range of technological upgrades.

Flagship Specs

The flagship models are powered by the A19 Pro chip, built on a 3-nanometer process, and come with up to 12 GB of RAM. The base iPhone 17 ships with 8 GB of RAM. Storage options start at 256 GB and go up to 1 TB, providing ample space for large photo libraries and 8K videos.

Cameras and Design

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max feature a triple 48 MP camera system: a main wide-angle sensor, an enhanced ultra-wide, and a telephoto lens with 8x zoom. The smartphones can record 8K ProRes RAW video, positioning them as a full-fledged alternative to professional cameras for everyday use.

The displays support ProMotion technology with a 120 Hz refresh rate and feature a new anti-glare coating for improved outdoor visibility. The design has also been updated: the body combines unibody aluminum with glass, the camera block is rectangular and horizontally aligned, and the Apple logo has been shifted slightly below the center.

Battery Life

Another key upgrade is larger batteries. The iPhone 17 Pro Max now packs a 5,088 mAh battery, providing about 4 hours more runtime compared to its predecessor. The iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 4,252 mAh battery, also a noticeable improvement over last year’s model.

The lineup introduces 25W charging via the Qi2 standard and reverse wireless charging, enabling users to power up accessories. Apple promises record endurance — up to 39 hours of video playback.

Sales begin on September 19, 2025, with pre-orders opening on September 12.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max embody Apple’s strategy of delivering more power, longer battery life, and enhanced tools for content creators. With the new A19 Pro, 12 GB of RAM, 8K-capable cameras, and larger batteries, the devices compete strongly with Android flagships.
