Insider Sonny Dixon, known for his accurate leaks, published on the X social network (formerly Twitter) photos of the new iPhone 16E mockups. This was reported by the 9to5Mac portal.

Judging by the photos, the iPhone 16E will be presented in two colors - black and white. The device will receive one camera with an enlarged protrusion, noticeably different from the previous iPhone SE 2022 model. It is assumed that the camera resolution will be 48 MP, which is a significant improvement for Apple's budget line.
In the photos, you can also see a flat aluminum frame on the side edges of the device. An interesting detail was the return of the physical silent mode switch, while in the current iPhone models it was replaced by an action button.

It is expected that the new smartphone will be called the iPhone 16E, and not the iPhone SE, as previously assumed. Experts from the 9to5Mac portal note that the design of the device differs from the usual concept of the budget SE line, which may prompt Apple to leave the current iPhone SE on sale, making it even more affordable.
Specifications and release dates
The presentation of the iPhone 16E, according to insiders, will take place in the spring of 2025 - in March or April. Together with the new smartphone, the company may also present a budget iPad 11th generation tablet.
Both devices are rumored to receive a powerful Apple A17 Pro or A18 chip, as well as 8 GB of RAM. These characteristics should provide support for the Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence system, which Apple places great emphasis on in new products.
