Apple is working on a new version of its voice assistant Siri, which is based on more advanced large language models, but will be launched in 2026, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reports.

Apple is calling the new system LLM Siri. The updated voice assistant is currently being tested as part of a separate app, but will eventually replace the current Siri interface.

The article explains that while Apple plans to introduce LLM Siri next year as part of iOS 19 and macOS 16, the new platform won’t actually launch until spring 2026. The updated Siri will be based on Apple’s new artificial naturalism models to interact with people and process tasks more naturally, similar to ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

As part of iOS 18.1, Apple introduced a new design for Siri, with improved Apple product knowledge and improved many commands, a new Type to Siri feature, and other small updates. iOS 18.2 will further improve Siri with ChatGPT integration. iOS 18.2 is currently in beta and will be available to everyone in December. Starting with iOS 18.3, Siri will be able to perform actions in apps and understand context to better answer questions. iOS 19 and macOS 16 are expected to be announced at WWDC 2025 in June next year.
