The Japanese weather monitoring satellite Himawari 9 (Sunflower 9) is partially out of order and cannot transmit images of clouds, the press service of the country's National Meteorological Agency reports.

"Currently, monitoring of some types of typhoon and volcanic ash has been partially suspended, but there are no issues with warnings or advisories," the statement said.

The department added that they are investigating the causes of the malfunction.

Japan is regularly exposed to various natural disasters. Last time, in August of this year, Japan was hit by the strong typhoon "Shansan", which caused torrential rains and strong winds in the southwestern regions of the country.

In the summer, the USA announced the destruction of the Russian Resurs-P satellite, which broke into more than 100 pieces in low Earth orbit. In 2021, the United States accused Russia of testing an anti-satellite weapon on one of its satellites, resulting in more than 1,500 pieces of debris that were taken under surveillance.
