The sale of Apple's new iPhone 16 in China has started quite actively. According to research firm Counterpoint, they sold 20% more than 2023 models in the first three weeks. However, this does not change the picture of Apple's global sales.
New Apple and Huawei smartphones went on sale in China on the same day, September 20. Apple has offered iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro with artificial intelligence functions, which, however, will start working later.
Huawei, in turn, offered the world's first three-way folding smartphone, the Mate XT, which is extremely expensive at $2,800. According to the research firm, this shows that competition between the two companies is intensifying in the world's largest smartphone market, with the American manufacturer steadily losing market share to local rivals in recent quarters.
"We're seeing strong sales of the iPhone 16 series in China," Reuters quoted Counterpoint as reporting that the flagship iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are selling particularly well in the country. their total sales increased by 44% compared to the same models in 2023.
The company, however, notes that overall iPhone sales fell 2% year-over-year in the last three weeks. This is due to declining sales of previous generation models and increased competition from Huawei with its Mate and Pura series of smartphones.
