Mobile applications are convenient and greatly simplify a person's life, but they can also be dangerous for the user. Information security expert Alexander Chernenko told Prime agency how to recognize the threat and protect personal data.

He explained that dangerous mobile applications can be divided into five types:

  • "Grey programs",
  • Apps that require too much access to your device,
  • Programs that require a lot of administrator rights,
  • Programs that use special functions,
  • Phishing programs.

Chernenko noted that in each specific case it is important to evaluate the reputation of the developer and check the security certificates. Apps should only be downloaded from official stores or company websites. When installing on a smartphone, it is important to use anti-virus programs, and then check the access rights of the installed applications.

If a dangerous application has already appeared on your smartphone anyway, you need to immediately remove it, turn off Internet access and turn on the smartphone in safe mode. To do this, you need to use an antivirus, and if you can't clean it, then according to Chernenko, you can restore the phone to factory settings.
