Apple is preparing to release the new budget smartphone, iPhone SE 4, which will use the display from the previous iPhone 13 model to reduce production costs. Companies BOE and LG will be the main suppliers of OLED panels for these devices, according to Wccftech.

To lower the device's cost, Apple has modified some of the iPhone 13's screen characteristics before installing them in the iPhone SE 4. Specifically, this means the absence of ProMotion technology support, less accurate color reproduction, and reduced brightness, which may negatively impact the user experience.

Sources indicate that BOE has signed a contract with Apple to supply approximately 20 million OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4, which is a significant amount considering that this phone is not expected to be a major bestseller for the Cupertino-based IT corporation. Mass production of the iPhone SE 4 is expected to begin in October 2024, with the device's release scheduled for early 2025.

In addition to LG and BOE, the company Tianma is seeking to become a supplier of screens for the iPhone SE 4. However, insiders report that Apple is not yet ready to collaborate with the firm due to the insufficient quality of its products.
