Apple launched a "multi-step operation" to identify and fire an employee who was passing data on new products to a third party. The company behaved like Tyrion Lannister, a hero from the TV series "Game of Thrones".

As Macworld reports, a Twitter user named @analyst941 recently shared some leaked information about the iOS 17 operating system and other information about upcoming Apple products. It was this leak that pointed to the leaker.

As it turned out, the company's information security department deliberately provided wrong information to some employees whom it suspected of being involved in the leak. For example, an employee who leaked information to Twitter user @analyst941 was given false release dates for Final Cut Pro and Logic software for the Apple iPad. And when this data appeared on the network, the company immediately found out which employee was transferring this information.

A similar method is also used in the TV series "Game of Thrones", where one of the most popular characters among viewers, Tyrion Lannister, deliberately provides false information to three heroes whom he suspected of passing all the information received to his sister, Queen Cersei Lannister. Knowing which version reached the sister, he finds out who exactly told the queen about it and therefore who is the one who is always passing the information to her.

Later, the user @analyst941 admitted that his sister, who works at Apple, was the insider, after which the employee was fired from Apple. Now @analyst941 fears Apple could sue him and his sister. To avoid more serious problems, @analyst941 has decided to permanently delete his Twitter account.
