Google has introduced a new version of its budget Pixel 8a smartphone, which has received a number of significant improvements compared to its predecessor. This is reported by The Verge.

One of the significant improvements of the new model is the new Google Tensor G3 processor. This is the latest generation chip with improved performance and power efficiency. The leading Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones work with this chip.

The Pixel 8a costs $499 and differs from its predecessor with an improved 120Hz display and seven years of software update support. Other specs are largely the same as last year's Pixel 7a, including 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage, IP67 water and dust protection, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a host of other features.

The Pixel 8a camera has also received improvements. The 64MP main module (f/1.89) and 13MP wide-angle sensor (f/2.2) remain the same, but the front camera has been upgraded to 13MP (f/2.2).

The Pixel 8a is rounder compared to the Pixel 7a. The shape of the new smartphone is reminiscent of the Apple iPhone 7. Available in black, white, green and blue. The Pixel 8a has a 4492 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.

The Pixel 8a is already available for pre-order, with sales starting on May 14.
