Rare first-generation iPhone with sealed box sells for $130,000

An original factory-sealed first-generation iPhone with 4GB of built-in memory, which was first auctioned in 2024, has been sold for more than $130,000.

The auction started two days ago and the starting price was just $17,000 at the time, but the final price has soared to a six-figure figure of $130,027.

The smartphone did not set an absolute record, as three iPhones with this configuration were sold for between $133,000 and $190,000 last year.

Last year in July at the American LCG Auctions, the iPhone of the first generation of 2007 with a closed box was sold for the highest price recorded up to that time – $158,644.

Apple released the first iPhone in 2007, and the 4GB version was quickly discontinued because the 8GB version was so popular. The 4GB version of the original iPhone was previously reported to be more than 20 times rarer than the 8GB version, making it more valuable.

The other day, it became known that the company's rare business card signed by Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs was sold at auction for $181,183, setting a new price record.
