Owners of Android smartphones in US pay less attention to iPhone

In 2023, the proportion of users switching from Android to iPhone decreased compared to the previous year, as indicated by a report from the analytical company Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).

According to analysts, in the United States, 13% of new iPhone buyers were former Android smartphone users. This figure was 2% higher in 2022, reaching a record level in the past five years. It is worth noting that cases where the buyer already owned another Apple smartphone are not included in the statistics.

According to the CIRP report, the share of those transitioning from Android to iOS in 2020 and 2021 was the lowest during the period under consideration, at 11%. Analysts also emphasize that 85% of iPhone buyers had previously used Apple devices, demonstrating high brand loyalty.

Last year, CIRP explored the reasons why owners of Android smartphones switch to iPhone. Among the main reasons were the obsolescence and malfunction of their previous devices, the appeal of new features, and the convenience of the iPhone. Additionally, some chose the iPhone for smoother communication with loved ones through FaceTime, iMessage, and other advantages of the Apple ecosystem. Surprisingly for many, it was also revealed that in some cases, the iPhone is priced lower than flagship Android smartphones with similar specifications.
