Blogger melts Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: Does it use more titanium than the iPhone 15 Pro Max? (video)

Blogger Zach Nelson, who goes by the pseudonym JerryRigEverything, compared the titanium alloys in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max cases. To do this, he disassembled the smartphones and separated the side frames from their cases, in which, in fact, titanium is used.

It turned out that the Galaxy S24 Ultra has titanium-coated frames that are as thin as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and they are attached to a plastic insert. To separate titanium from plastic and other substances, the blogger melted the metal components of the smartphone in a crucible.

Further analysis revealed that Samsung and Apple smartphones use different types of titanium. In the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the blogger discovered a Grade 2 alloy with 99 percent titanium content, and in the iPhone 15 Pro Max - a Grade 5 alloy, which is 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium.

Although Samsung uses purer titanium in its flagship smartphone, the volume of titanium in the smartphone is less. According to the blogger, Samsung pays $3-5 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Apple – $10-15.

Let us recall that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra entered the market on January 24, 2024 at a price of $1,290, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has been on sale since September 22, 2023 for $1,200.
