Which one to choose: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or iPhone 15 Pro Max? Comparison

February 1, 2024  22:34

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with a 200 MP wide-angle camera (compared to iPhone's 48 MP), a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera (similar to the iPhone), a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and a 50 MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom. Apple only has one 12-megapixel model with a telephoto lens.

Reviewers claim that there is almost no difference in photos between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the S24 Ultra. The shots from the S24 Ultra are slightly more saturated, and bright areas have become brighter, making the S24 images appear more vibrant. iPhone images are generally clearer, but Samsung's algorithm performs well for night photography.

Samsung has primarily focused on artificial intelligence, so the camera on the S24 Ultra is nearly identical to the S23 Ultra. The main difference is the telephoto lens. Samsung has abandoned the 10x zoom telephoto lens and instead opted for a 5x zoom telephoto lens, which more closely matches the 5x zoom telephoto lens on the iPhone. Comparative images look similar, but in portrait mode, Samsung's photos appear sharper.

Regarding artificial intelligence, Samsung has added some AI-supported post-processing features. You can use generative fill to remove objects from images and change framing, reduce noise through remastering, add slow motion to any video, and simultaneously record from the front and rear cameras. Some AI camera-related features might appear on iPhone 16 models or in iOS 18 in the future, but currently, Samsung has an advantage.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may not surpass the iPhone 15 Pro Max in video quality, but according to the review, the sound recording is better on the Samsung flagship when shooting videos.
