Apple releases iOS 17.3: What security features does it offer to iPhone users?

Apple iOS 17.3 has been released, and it's not just a technical update. It includes a security feature for the latest iPhone models, requiring the use of Face ID or Touch ID for specific actions and introducing a temporary delay when changing your device password or Apple ID password.

The primary innovation in iOS 17.3 is the groundbreaking "Anti-Theft" feature. It is designed to prevent unauthorized access to devices and the data stored on them. Unlike previous versions where security mainly relied on the screen lock password, the new system requires users to use biometric data - fingerprint scanning or Face ID - to perform critical operations. This includes actions such as viewing saved passwords, managing Apple ID settings, and even applying for a new Apple card.

The innovation also involves introducing a time delay for particularly important actions. If a user decides to change the Apple ID password or iPhone passcode, the system now requires not only biometric authentication but also sets an hour-long delay before completing this process. This ensures that even if the device falls into the wrong hands, access to the most critical functions will be restricted. As clarified by Apple, this feature is activated in locations different from the user's usual ones, such as home or the workplace.

Activation of "Anti-Theft" is done through the "Settings" app in the "Face ID and Passcode" section. After entering the current password, the user can enable the new feature. For more detailed information, Apple suggests visiting their official website.

In addition to strengthening security, iOS 17.3 brings other improvements. In particular, the collaborative playlist feature is now available in Apple Music on both iOS 17.3 and macOS 14.3 Sonoma, allowing friends to join playlists and contribute to the musical space. The update also introduces the feature of streaming content to televisions in some hotels.
