Corning introduces new Gorilla Armor glass with enhanced scratch protection: Which phone gets it first?

Modern smartphones are equipped with fairly durable protective glass that can withstand several drops. But such glass still scratches easily. Now, however, Corning has introduced a new Gorilla Armor glass with enhanced scratch protection. And the first to receive this glass was the flagship Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Corning claims it's the toughest glass for displays, and there will be plenty of stress tests coming out on YouTube in the coming days to prove or disprove this. The developer also claims that Gorilla Armor is the most scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass, and it protects against scratches four times more effectively than any other glass.

According to Corning, to evaluate its exceptional scratch resistance, the company had created a new laboratory test called 'Scratch Bot' to simulate the micro-scratches encountered in everyday use. In this rigorous test, Gorilla Armor exhibited no visible scratches and demonstrated more than four times the scratch resistance of competing aluminosilicate safety glasses.

The developer also claims that Gorilla Armor provides improved visual clarity and reduces reflectivity by up to 75% compared to a conventional glass surface, increasing display readability and minimizing screen reflections in virtually any environment.
