Bill Gates: AI can increase programmers' productivity by 50%

January 17, 2024  10:15

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) can significantly improve the productivity of some professionals, including programmers, but for its full-scale implementation, the regulatory framework needs to be worked out. This opinion was expressed by philanthropist and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland).

As reported by BNN, the emergence of generative AI has led to a significant increase in the productivity of specialists in some areas: for example, programmers note an increase in efficiency of up to 50%, because AI perfectly performs some routine coding tasks and saves programmers time.

Gates also addressed the potential reliance on AI interactions and called for careful consideration of issues related to the use of this technology in work processes.

The billionaire also noted that AI will have a long way to go in terms of legal integration. According to him, developing the regulatory framework in the context of AI will be no less difficult than in the case of social networks.

Commenting on people's concerns about AI-generated content interfering with the 2024 US election campaign, Gates noted that this is possible, but the impact is likely to be minor.
