French startup introduces neural network that is free and censorship-free

French startup Mistral, founded by former DeepMind researchers, has unveiled its new neural network model, Mistral 8x7B. According to Ferra, compared to competitors like Gemini, Mistral 8x7B is not only more powerful but also completely free under the Apache 2.0 license.

Mistral 8x7B has the unique ability to work with a context of 32,000 tokens, operate in multiple languages, including English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French, and generate code effectively. In benchmarks, Mistral's performance matches or even surpasses ChatGPT 3.5, as per the authors of the material.

Another feature of the innovation is the capability for local deployment of Mistral. Using the Ollama tool, users can run Mistral locally and even use the uncensored version, dolphin-mistral, providing more precise customization.

Mistral also encourages users to train their own models. With support from Hugging Face, users can select a model and upload their own data. Ferra considers all these features make Mistral one of the most promising startups in the field of artificial intelligence.
