Google adds new feature to Android that will notify users about battery health

Google plans to integrate a battery health indicator into Android, marking a significant step in enhancing the user experience, similar to the existing feature on Apple smartphones. While this section currently does not include a full implementation of the battery status indicator, an analysis of its source code suggests that it will eventually show the percentage of battery charge the battery can hold compared to its original capacity.

Rahman also found icons in the code that likely symbolize a decrease in battery capacity or issues with its detection. It is expected that the "Settings" app will provide users with "hints" about the battery's condition, such as when the phone cannot detect the battery or when its health deteriorates.

For iPhone users, the ability to monitor battery status has long been a standard feature, but for Android, this represents a significant innovation. This becomes particularly relevant in light of the improved availability of original parts for self-repair, including batteries and replacement instructions. Thus, the new feature not only simplifies the technical maintenance of Android devices but also promotes more responsible and conscious use of technology, extending the lifespan of devices and reducing the need for frequent replacements.
