$10,000: Prototype AirPower device put up for sale on eBay

A prototype of Apple's AirPower wireless charging device, which the company developed for several years, but later abandoned, has been put up for sale on eBay for $10,000.

AirPower is a multifunctional device designed to work with several devices at once. Apple developed it a few years ago, but due to production problems and poor performance, the company later decided not to release it.

Photos of the prototype appeared in the media in the summer of 2020. However, only now the owner of the exclusive copy decided to put it up for sale. The ad noticed a user of the X social network with the nickname Sebastiaan de With. He published screenshots of the advertised product, from which it can be understood that the seller is asking $10,000 for AirPower.

“Never got over Apple canceling the AirPower mat? Good news, it can be yours on eBay for only a slight premium ($10,000,” he wrote.

This is not the only case that a prototype of Apple products does not reach the stage of mass production and does not make it to the market for various reasons. Apple Magic Charger and Dual-port iPad 1 are among such products.

However, there are also many such products that reached the market, but were not successful. Apple has at least twenty such products: Apple Newton, Apple Pippin, Round Mouse, Apple Macintosh Portable, Power Mac G4 Cube, U2 iPod, Apple eMate, Macintosh TV, eWorld, The Apple III, FireWire, Apple Lisa, 20th Anniversary Macintosh, iTunes Ping, MobileMe, Performa x200 Series, Homepod Original, iPod Hi-Fi, Apple Maps and iPhone 6.
