By the end of October, Apple may introduce iMac with M3 processor

October 23, 2023  17:18

Earlier this month, there were reports that Apple might unveil new iMac computers and iPad tablets in October. As the month draws to a close, the only announcement so far has been the release of a budget-friendly Apple Pencil with a USB Type-C interface. However, Apple may still be gearing up to announce a new iMac, and it's expected to happen on October 30.

This viewpoint is shared by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. If this indeed turns out to be true, Apple is preparing to introduce a new iMac, marking the first update since the launch of the Apple M1-powered iMac back in early 2021. Although Gurman didn't specify the exact processor that will power the new computer, it is evident that it's likely to be the Apple M3 chip.

In his report, citing an informed source, Gurman stated that "Apple plans to release a new Mac-oriented product at the end of the month." He also pointed out that Apple's next financial report is due in November. According to him, the last time the company delayed its quarterly financial results discussion, it coincided with the announcement of new Mac and iPad products.

Furthermore, Gurman believes that updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops might be introduced in 2024, as they were last updated in January of this year. It has been over a year since the last update to the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the iMac is approaching the three-year mark without significant changes.

The journalist doesn't anticipate major overhauls in the upcoming MacBook Pro models, except for processor upgrades and perhaps some minor display improvements. He speculates that more significant changes will be implemented in the iMac Pro, expected in 2025, and the MacBook Pro in 2026 when OLED displays are likely to be incorporated.
