September 19, 2023  12:22

Apple has started distributing the official version of the iOS 17 operating system, but many users have already begun to complain that the battery life with a single charge hes significantly decreased.

A total of 19 previously released smartphone models can receive this update, including iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 3, iPhone SE 2. However, iPhone X and older models won't get it.

After users complained that their smartphones started running significantly shorter on a single charge after the iOS 17 update, iAppleBytes conducted a corresponding power consumption test on iPhones that have already received the iOS 17 update.

In the test, iAppleBytes included five iPhone models updated with iOS 17, including the iPhone SE 2, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13. After testing the battery, iAppleBytes concluded that battery life has indeed decreased in all the older models tested. iPhone 13 and iPhone XR started to run significantly shorter on a single charge, with the iPhone XR recording the shortest time on a single charge ever recorded after the iOS 14 operating system update.

The company also provided a chart showing the actual battery life of the above models from iOS 15 to iOS 17. Those who have not yet upgraded to iOS 17 are advised not to do so and continue to use iOS 16.7.
