Agility Robotics to make 10,000 humanoid robots a year, surpassing Tesla

The American company Agility Robotics will start producing human-like robot assistants at the Oregon plant, where the necessary technological equipment is already being brought. As CNBC reports, the company's production volumes can reach 10,000 robots per year, and in terms of production speed, the company can surpass Tesla.

Digit model robots are designed taking into account the needs of industrial and warehouse enterprises, where they can move simultaneously with people and perform some primitive operations. In the RoboFab factory with an area of about 6,500 m2, where 500 people will work, Agility Robotics is already installing the necessary equipment that will allow to assemble up to 10,000 such robots in the future. According to company representatives, this is the first enterprise of its kind in the world.

Digit's humanoid robots are designed to lift loads, sort ingredients and move in balance on more than just flat surfaces. The presence of two legs will allow the robots to move in spaces with stairs, where there are stairs and which are not specially adapted for robot use. The robots are powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

Digit robots won't have five-fingered limbs, instead they'll get claw-like grippers. According to representatives of Agility Robotics, robots should be as complex as necessary to do their job. Functionally, these robots will be able to transport cargo and sort products in warehouses. They will also be used in the robot manufacturing plant. Customers will be able to purchase the first Digit robots already next year. These robots will not be rented, they are for sale only. The company has not yet specified how much such a robot will cost.

According to representatives of Agility Robotics, such robots will replace people in activities that are not attractive to people for various reasons: work intensity, low pay, etc. Digital robots are designed as human assistants that are safe and can operate independently within assigned tasks.

Note that Tesla produces humanoid robots called Optimus. In May of this year, the company showed a video demonstrating how their capabilities have been improved. During the annual meeting with shareholders, Tesla boss Elon Musk said that these $20,000 robots will bring a significant portion of Tesla's revenue over time.
