What threat can chatbots like ChatGPT pose?

Intelligent chatbots, such as the popular ChatGPT, create many new possibilities for us, helping to automate many tasks and save a lot of time. However, according to Anton Yakimov, T1 Group's Deputy General Director of Technology Development, these chatbots also open up new opportunities for cybercriminals.

According to him, chatbots can "help" criminals extract the information they need from any data, as well as analyze it.

"The problem and danger of ChatGPT is that the chatbot can easily provide information on how to create a malicious code, virus or program," the specialist said in an interview with Lenta.ru.

He added that the neural network technology behind such chatbots has made it easier for cybercriminals to find their victims and later steal their personal information. As a result, fraudsters are modifying their attacks with the help of artificial intelligence, which makes it difficult to prevent them and counter the threats.

ChatGPT himself, in response to NEWS.am Tech's question, stated that cybercriminals can really use the information provided by him or any other language model for their own purposes.

“It's important to remember that AI models are just tools, and like any other tool, they can be used for good or bad purposes, depending on the intent of the user. Meanwhile, developers and researchers are constantly working to improve security measures and develop ethical principles for artificial intelligence technology.

It is important that users are aware of the potential risks and take the necessary preventive measures to protect their information and data,” the chatbot said.
