As of November 6, the Kp index fluctuates between G2 and G3, corresponding to moderate and strong geomagnetic storms. This level of activity can cause auroras at mid-latitudes, radio communication interference, GPS navigation errors, and power grid fluctuations. In Russia, residents of northern regions — from Murmansk to Krasnoyarsk — can expect visible auroras.
According to IKI forecasts, the disturbances are likely to last about 24 hours before entering a main phase, as denser plasma clouds approach Earth, potentially intensifying activity. “Cautious forecasts for the next 24 hours suggest stronger storms, possibly up to G4,” scientists warned. The full picture will become clear within 12–18 hours, once the plasma fully interacts with Earth’s magnetosphere.
